I have often wondered how that experience must've been for Mary. First of all, being pregnant without having done anything to get pregnant, being so young while pregnant, then seeking out a safe place to have your child whose head already had a bounty on it.
Kind of mind boggling, isn't it?
I love this painting. Mary in silhouette and the angels as well. There is something very intimate about it, as if they are all sharing a deep and beautiful secret together. The clouds look angelic as well. Lovely post.
